The year 2025 is a significant milestone for ARQUILED, a company that for 20 years has been synonymous with innovation and excellence in Portuguese street lighting. Since its inception, the company has established itself as a pioneer in the introduction of LED lighting solutions, revolutionizing the sector with cutting-edge technology and a solid commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
A journey of growth and innovation
ARQUILED began its activity in 2005 with the clear objective of upgrading street lighting in Portugal by offering more sustainable and economical alternatives to conventional lighting solutions. From an early stage, it invested heavily in R&D (Research and Development) to create solutions adapted to the needs of municipalities and the cities of the future.
With an approach focused on efficiency, the company has developed high-quality LED luminaires and smart lighting systems that enable remote management – from individual luminaires to the entire public lighting network – adapting illumination to environmental conditions and traffic flow. This contribution has been essential in reducing energy consumption and the carbon footprint of cities, in line with global sustainability and energy transition goals.
From public lighting to smart cities
In recent years, public street lighting, which once had only a utilitarian function, has become a strategic vector for urban management, and ARQUILED has evolved to establish itself as a key player in the transition to smart cities and territories, in the lighting sector and beyond. Thus, we have leveraged the Internet of Things (IoT) to develop integrated solutions that enable the collection and analysis of data in real-time, promoting safety, mobility and the efficiency of urban resources. Solutions such as sensors, traffic counting and smart energy management are examples of ARQUILED’s commitment to an urban future that is more connected and responsive to citizens’ needs.
2025: a year of exciting news
The celebration of ARQUILED’s 20th anniversary will bring plenty of new developments. Among the most anticipated are the launch of a new generation of products, a broader and more diverse offering and even more energy-efficient solutions.
