ARQUILED and Stattus4 present an Artificial Intelligence system to reduce water wastage in the public water supply distribution network
Portuguese water regulator's 2021 report says the country's municipalities waste the equivalent of an olympic-size swimming pool every day
ARQUILED and the Brazilian company Stattus4 presented an artificial intelligence system to monitor water loss, that will allow the implementation of efficiency projects in the public water supply distribution network, thus promoting the sustainability of water resources and reducing commercial losses.
Unveiled to the media this Friday, the system uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to monitor the public supply distribution network in real time, specifically through a set of induction or pulsation sensors and pressure sensors that can identify leaks early and allow immediate action when necessary.
In view of the extreme drought of 2022 and scenarios pointing to the phenomenon becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change, the need to combat water wastage in the public supply distribution system has entered the agenda. According to the portuguese Water and Waste Regulatory Authority (ERSAR), 174 million m3 of water are wasted annually in the public supply distribution in Portugal, the equivalent of 252 Olympic-sized swimming pools per day.
With the commercialization of this system, ARQUILED and Stattus4 provide municipalities with a technological solution capable of optimizing the water resource management, combating waste and generating savings. To demonstrate the advantages of the system and promote its adoption by local authorities, a set of pilot projects is already being prepared and will be presented soon.
With the partnership established with Stattus4, ARQUILED “adds a new vector of action” in the field of critical resource management. “We started by saving energy and now we are saving on water, always from a city management perspective. We are a catalyst for sustainability and critical resource management for municipalities” – said the company’s CEO, Miguel Allen Lima.
Recently considered “one of the 50 start-ups that change Brazil,” Stattus4 specializes in developing technologically advanced solutions for natural resource management and, according to CEO and founder Marilia Lara, “differentiates itself by the application of artificial intelligence and the multidisciplinary nature of its founders.
