ARQUILED subscribes to the BCSD Charter of Principles
The document is a voluntary reference of good management practices that brings together Portuguese companies around common sustainable development commitments for Portugal
ARQUILED has subscribed to the Charter of Principles of BCSD Portugal – Business Council for Sustainable Development, a non-profit business association that brings together and represents companies actively committed to sustainability.
Published in November 2017, this Charter of Principles is a commitment to strengthen sustainable management practices based on six principles: (1) Legal Compliance and Ethical Conduct, (2) Human Rights, (3) Labor Rights, (4) Prevention, Health and Safety, (5) Environment and (6) Management.
Implemented by Jornada 2030 – the common business agenda for sustainability in Portugal, the document is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as with European Union (EU) and Portuguese strategies, the European Green Pact and the Paris Agreement, and also includes multi-stakeholder Corporate Social Responsibility targets.
The 2030 Journey consists of 20 objectives, 20 targets and 20 cross-cutting environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators, which will be implemented through 5 stages: Know, Build, Communicate, Consolidate and Collide.
More than 170 Portuguese signatory companies
Originally signed by 35 companies, including Corticeira Amorim, EDP, Sonae and Navigator, by way of example, the BCSD Charter of Principles now has more than 170 signatories, now joined by ARQUILED. The document can be signed and applied by any company that shares the ambition of a sustainable future, regardless of its size or sector of activity. ARQUILED encourages its suppliers to do so.
BCSD Portugal is an influential national player in the field of “transition to a low-carbon economy that values ecosystems and generates well-being in society” through “new, competitive, innovative, responsible, sustainable and inclusive business models”.
